Argentina achieved a new record in May for lithium exports, marking a significant 17% increase compared to the previous month. The Secretary of Mining of Argentina reported that sales of the metal reached a total of US$ 60 million in May, contributing to 19% of the country’s overall mining exports.
Currently, Argentina operates three active lithium mines, with an additional 38 mines under development. This rapid expansion has positioned Argentina as the world’s fastest-growing lithium producer.
Argentina’s lithium exports skyrocketed to US$ 369 million between January and May. This impressive figure represents an astounding 84% increase compared to the same period last year, establishing a new record for the first five months of the year. These statistics were released by the country’s Mining Secretariat.
