The year 2023 concludes with a remarkable surge in the export of household goods via Tecon Rio Grande, owned by Wilson Sons. Between January and November, this market experienced an impressive 287% increase compared to the same period in 2022, signaling a revival in market share and renewed confidence in the international market. As the gateway for maritime connections to various global regions, the Rio Grande terminal has played a pivotal role in this growth.

Export figures until November reveal a substantial uptick, with a total movement of 9,780 tons—far surpassing the 2,529 tons recorded during the corresponding period in 2022. The year 2023 saw the export of 2,093 TEUs compared to the previous year’s 579. In terms of container numbers, there were 1,086 in 2023, a notable increase from the 311 recorded in the same January-November period of the previous year. Key export destinations include the United States, Mexico, and Peru, with Tramontina, a leading player in the Brazilian household goods market, contributing more than 90% to this volume.

Roselaine Pierdona, Sales Supervisor at Tramontina, underscores the pivotal role of Tecon Rio Grande in the company’s export operations. “Utilizing the port of Rio Grande enables us to streamline and optimize the export process, reducing logistical costs and ensuring enhanced cargo security. This positions us to compete more effectively in the international market, broadening our business prospects and fortifying the state’s economy—a trend evident in the significant strides made in our export figures,” she affirms.

Paulo Bertinetti, CEO of Tecon Rio Grande, attributes this substantial increase to their client-centric approach, offering tailored logistical solutions and process optimization. “This progress in exports contributes to the state’s economy, bolstering the global standing of Rio Grande do Sul’s production,” he concludes.
