Trade balance surplus reaches US$ 3.58 billion by the second week of August

The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 3.58 billion up to the second week of August, an increase of 29.3% in the daily average compared to August of last year. Bilateral trade (sum of exports and imports) reached US$ 20.76 billion, up 50.4%. In the year-to-date figures, the surplus reached US$ 47.94 billion, increasing 44.6%, and the trade flow reached US$ 299.70 billion, an increase of 34.9%, compared to January- August 2020. The data were released this Monday (August 16) by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) of the Ministry of Economy.
Exports in August grew 46.9% up to the second week and totaled US$ 12.17 billion, while imports rose 55.7% and totaled US$ 8.59 billion. In the year-to-date figures, exports grew 36.2% and totaled US$ 173.82 billion, with imports rising 33.2% and reaching US$ 125.88 billion.
