Trade balance records US$4.32 bi surplus in September

The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 4.322 billion in September 2021, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance on October 1st.

In the daily average, the positive balance is 15% lower than that registered in September of last year. In that month, the surplus reached US$ 5.1 billion.

In 2021, exports reached US$ 24.284 billion in September. Imports reached US$ 19.962 billion in the month.

Compared to September 2020, daily average exports grew 33.3% and imports increased 51.9%.

January to September

From January to September, the year-to-date surplus totaled US$ 56.433 billion, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The value is the highest recorded for the period of the first nine months of the year.

From January to September 2021, exports totaled US$ 213.223 billion. Imports, on the other hand, reached US$ 156.79 billion.

Surplus of US$70.9 billion

At the end of the third quarter, the Ministry of Finance revised the trade balance surplus forecast to US$ 70.9 billion in 2021. If confirmed, the value will be 40.7% higher than the positive result of $50.9 billion observed in 2020.

The projection released on October 1st is lower than the July estimate. That month, the ministry predicted that the year 2021 would end with a surplus of US$ 105.3 billion.
