Wilson Sons registered growth in the transport of furniture from Rio Grande do Sul to the northern and northeastern regions through Tecon Rio Grande. This was the largest movement of furniture in ten years, considering the first six months of 2021. In all, the container terminal accounted for 1,182 TEU, an increase of 28% over the same period in 2020. The goods were transported by cabotage to four Brazilian states: Amazonas, Pernambuco, Ceará, and Bahia.
Rio Grande do Sul is one of the main centers of the furniture industry in the country. The shipment of furniture at Tecon Rio Grande is carried out weekly, and the Log-In shipowner transported 40% of this volume in the Atlântico Sul service. According to Wilson Sons, 21 vessel calls connected Rio Grande do Sul to the main ports in Brazil’s north, northeast, and southeast regions.
