Tax auditors strike affects release of cargo at Port of Manaus
Feb, 01, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202405
Due to a strike of the federal revenue auditors in Amazonas, cargo clearance at the Port of Manaus is delayed, according to the National Union of Federal Revenue Auditors (Sindifisco-AM). The category has been protesting since November 20.
The strike aims to demand the full payment of an efficiency bonus, as stipulated in an agreement reached with the Federal Government in 2016. The strike is taking place in other states besides Amazonas.
A meeting will be held to determine the next steps of the strike. So far, the only cargoes not being released are perishable foods, live animals, medicines, or hazardous cargoes.
The Federal Revenue has chosen not to comment on the matter.
