Tariff readjustment completed in Itaguaí and Cabedelo, says Antaq

Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) concluded the tariff standardization procedures for the Organized Port of Itaguaí, managed by the state-company CDRJ. The changes applied to the tariff collection system will be further detailed in Brazil’s Federal Gazette.

With the regularization of the tariffs, the Agency has taken another step toward ending its project to unite the tariff structure employed throughout ports in the country. It is worth remembering that the standardization effort establishes new tariff modalities and collection tables, as in the case of Table I, whose incidence is now measured by DWT.

The standardization aims to make tariff collections more efficient and allow users to make comparisons using universal metrics, which increases friendly competition between the country’s ports.

In addition to the standardization, ANTAQ approved a Tariff Readjustment Index (IRT) of 34.95% in the values previously collected at the Port of Itaguaí. The measure was taken to match the current inflation in the country, which wasn’t done since 2016 at CDRJ.

Docas/PB and SCPAR

ANTAQ also approved the appeal filed by Companhia Docas da Paraíba (Docas/PB), effectively changing the tariff review carried out in 2022 at the Port of Cabedelo.

Moreover, the federal Agency endorsed the first tariff structure for the Port of Laguna in Santa Catarina, managed by SC-Parcerias S/A (SCPAR). Now, the port will be able to compete, through tariffs approved by ANTAQ, with the other organized ports in the country.
