SCPAR to allocate BRL 17 million to improve Port of Imbituba access

The Ministry of Ports and Airports has authorized the use of part of the dividends from SCPAR Porto de Imbituba for improvement works on the South Access road in the municipality of Imbituba. This section connects BR-101 to the port through the Vila Nova neighborhood. The decision was announced by the President of the Port Authority Council (CAP), Júlio Dias, during a meeting held at the port on Wednesday (13).

“Our state is a producer state and that generates a lot of wealth. The products we develop, create, and manufacture here need to reach the most demanding markets. After all, their quality is above average, and they leave our industries ready for export. That’s why our ports are so important, and it’s the case with the Port of Imbituba, which has grown a lot this year and will continue to grow even more,” said Governor Jorginho Mello.

The investment represents an infusion of R$ 17 million. It will be transferred by the Government of the State of Santa Catarina, through SCPAR holding (which receives dividends from the port), to the municipality to develop the project. Once the funding agreement is signed, the works are expected to be completed in 2024.

The effort to release the funds was a joint endeavor of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, SNPTA, State Secretariat of Ports, Airports, and Railways (SPAF), CAP Imbituba, SCPAR holding, Port of Imbituba, and the municipality.

During the announcement, the President of CAP emphasized the importance of the council in moving the discussions forward and the positive partnership between the port and the city, which benefits everyone. The pavement was required due to the road’s deterioration, which was caused, among other things, by its use during the construction of the North Access road.

For the Secretary of SPAF, Beto Martins, “Governor Jorginho Mello’s willingness to agree to the use of these funds for a public project in the city and the joint efforts of these various entities have resulted in this extraordinary achievement for Imbituba.”
