
Rio de Janeiro cargo movement reach 45.9 mln t Jan-Sept

From January to September this year, the cargo throughput recorded at the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói, and Angra dos Reis by port authority CDRJ reached the mark of 45.9 million tonnes. In September alone, these ports obtained a throughput of 5.8 million tonnes, the 2nd largest monthly result in the year.
The Port Authority’s overall performance was impacted by the positive result of the Port of Rio de Janeiro in all quarters of the year. From January to September 2022, the Port of Rio de Janeiro handled a total of 7.7 million tonnes, which corresponds to a growth of 12.1% compared to the same period in 2021.
The positive results seen in the Port of Rio de Janeiro was caused by the increase in the movement of containerized cargo. A total of 406,898 TEUs were handled, which is a 19.6% increase over the previous year.
