Port of Santos’ area lease public hearing will take place on April 19

On April 19, starting at 10 a.m., ANTAQ will host a virtual public hearing to receive contributions targeted at improving the documents on the bidding of the STS10 region, situated in the Port of Santos (SP). The terminal will handle and store containerized freight.

The new terminal will span an area of 601,101 m². Investments in the order of  R$ 3.29 billion are expected. The prospective lessee must make the required expenditures so that the STS10 Terminal can operate at least 1.9 million TEUs per year.

Among the construction and improvement works to be completed are the following: the construction of a berth with a total length of 1,209 linear meters; deepening dredging in the berth area; the construction of a patio (retro area) of approximately 97,310 m² in the area between the existing quay and the new quay; and the implementation of a rail branch with a total length of at least 1,500m.

The contract, which will be signed in 2023, has a total worth of R$ 27.8 billion. Operations will begin in the following year. The winning bidder must also repay the port authority R$ 6.2 million in fixed monthly instalments and R$ 54.55 per container carried.

Social contribution

The virtual public hearing will operate as follows: the whole virtual session will be streamed to the Internet, recorded, and published on ANTAQ’s channel on “Youtube.” There is no need to register to attend the Public Hearing.

Those interested in making public comments at the hearing may register via Whatsapp at (61) 2029-6940. Registration will open on April 18 from 12:00 to 18:00. Participants will be able to contribute by video, audio, or even text messages. They may also express themselves by entering the “Zoom” platform-created conference room. To do that, interested parties must declare their intentions beforehand and share their email address to gain access to the platform and be asked to enter the room.
