Port of Itaqui: all-time high cargo throughput in August
Sep, 02, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202235
The Port of Itaqui in Maranhão had its largest cargo throughput in a single month in August 2022, reaching approximately 3.5 million tonnes in the month alone, more than in June, which had been the best month in Itaqui’s history so far.
About 22.3 million tonnes of cargo passed through the port this year. The positive results mainly stem from the rise in exports of solid bulk goods, soybeans, and corn, in addition to pig iron.
See below the top six most exported products from the Port of Itaqui in terms of volume from January to July 2022. The data is from DataLiner.

The expectation is to close 2022 with a throughput of more than 11 million tonnes of soybeans and 3 million tonnes of corn, the same volume forecast for fertilizer operations, and about 8 million tonnes of liquid bulk.
