On October 26, SCPAR Porto de Imbituba filed the project for the recovery, reinforcement, and expansion of berth 3 at the Port Authority Police Station in Laguna. The formalization of the request to the Navy to analyze and approve the project is essential for the updating of the Port’s nautical chart since, in addition to the renovation, the berth will gain a larger structure than the existing one, modifying its current operational parameters.
Expected to be tendered in 2022, the work foresees the recovery of existing structural changes, the reinforcement of the current structure by widening the berth by approximately 2.5 meters with the driving of a new line of support piles, and the construction of 2 dolphins. In addition, the reinforcement will allow the installation of a shiploader (automated equipment for loading and unloading cargo), facilitating an increase in operational productivity.
With the renovation, Pier 3 will expand its service capacity to receive ships up to 271 meters in length with a maximum draft of 13.5 meters. Currently, this berth can serve vessels up to 215 meters with a maximum draft of 11.5 meters.
