The Port of Fortaleza, fulfilling its fundamental role in the development of the asphalt sector in Ceará, received a shipment of 4,000 tons of the product on Tuesday (02/04), brought by the vessel Black SunRise, flying the flag of the Republic of Malta, a European country located between southern Italy and northern Africa.
According to the Brazilian Asphalt Company (CBAA), the company responsible for the importation, the asphalt came from Russia and will be transported by trucks to the industry in Guaiúba, a municipality in the Fortaleza Metropolitan Region.
“This product plays a crucial role in road construction, street paving, highway rehabilitation, and various infrastructure endeavors. It is a staple in the construction sector, known for its significant employment contribution nationwide. Moreover, the asphalt cement brought into the Port of Fortaleza will be distributed to all Northeastern states,” said Lucio Gomes, CEO of the Ceará Dock Company, celebrating the fact that the Port of Fortaleza has already imported 14,000 tons of cement this year alone.
In January, CBAA Asfaltos imported 10,500 tons of CAP 50/70, a substantial volume that positioned the Port of Fortaleza as the primary destination for asphalt imports in Brazil during that period.
Service: the vessel Black SunRise will continue its voyage on Wednesday (03/04) to Las Palmas, Spain.
