The ship M/V Theodor made its first stopover at the Container Terminal of Paranaguá this week (07/02). With a capacity of 1,304 TEUs, the arrival of the vessel marks the inauguration of the maritime route that connects Paranaguá to Cuba, Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic and Mexico. With the new line, TCP reaches 17 weekly maritime calls available to customers.

During the inauguration of the line at the terminal, there was a welcome ceremony and a gift of Chinese culture was given to the shipowner. The shipowners manager, Carolina Brown; operations planning manager, Felipe de França; and shipowners coordinator, Ramon Canova.

According to Carolina Brown, “the wide range of maritime services and regular stopovers at our terminal bring exporters and importers greater competitiveness throughout the logistics chain. With more service options, customers feel more secure and can deliver the product faster”.

The maritime line is operated by the Panamanian shipowner CTM, represented in South America by Poseidon Container Shipping. The CEO of Poseidon, Ivo Rodrigues da Paixão Júnior, stated that, still in 2023, a second vessel, with a capacity of 2,500 TEUs, will be part of this fleet. According to him, the biggest opportunities in this undertaking are in the segment of wood, animal protein, frozen products, paper, cellulose, ceramic floors, hazardous cargo and other dry cargo in general.

Poseidon’s CEO highlighted the differentials that made him seek TCP, such as the greater availability of choices in the berthing window; sufficient outlets for refrigerated containers; organization and professionalism of the team. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and the railway line within TCP, which extends to the vicinity of Paraguay, also facilitate possible access to that market in the future and attracted the attention of the shipowner. “We hope to build a long-term relationship, which has the main focus on satisfying our customers and the needs of the Brazilian market”, highlights the CEO.

According to Carolina Brown, other factors benefited from expanding the lines, such as continuous investments in structure, productivity records and increased operational capacity. “Currently, TCP has 3 berths (place where the ship pulls up to the pier) and 7 groups of ship crew, facilitating the reception of scales. We serve all continents and seek to strengthen our activities in partnership with shipowners”, concludes Brown.
