An act signed by Severino Cavalcante Souza, superintendent at the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, approved the start of operations of the new container terminal in the Port of Santana, Amapá, which will be managed by the company Teconap S/A. This investment reinforces the state’s port logistics and the possibility of expanding cabotage navigation, an old vocation of the municipality of Santana.

The port facility, called Amapá Container Terminal – TECONAP, is temporarily bonded until April 7, 2026, in accordance with the temporary use contract signed with Companhia Docas de Santana (CDSA). The new container terminal is located inside the jurisprudence area of the Organized Port of Santana, at Rua Claúdio Lúcio Monteiro, nº 1.380, in the municipality of Santana-AP.

According to the company’s statement, the project is meant to handle and store containers stuffed with manufactured goods in accordance with the terms and requirements of the current laws. “A total bonded area corresponds to 23,924m², which includes, among other buildings, a container yard, an area for examination and verification of goods, a warehouse for LTL cargo, a caged area, a warehouse for sensitive goods, and a maneuvering yard,” informed the company.

Another attribute is that general containerized cargo can be handled and stored exclusively, except for solid and liquid bulk, refrigerated cargo, and products of agricultural interest regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa).

On the other hand, customs operations and special customs procedures are authorized, such as entry or exit, berthing, parking or transit of vehicles coming from abroad, or destined for it; loading, unloading, transshipment, re-destination, storage or passage of goods coming from abroad, or destined for it; and dispatch of goods under a customs transit regime, under a temporary admission regime or a temporary export regime.

Port logistics

Amapá was the only state in the country with a Port in a Primary Zone which wasn’t active in the container market. However, with the arrival of TECONAP S/A, the state returns to the operating circuit, handling around 10 million containers per year. In September 2021, the National Water Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) granted TECONAP S/A the concession to build and operate a new bonded container terminal in the Port of Santana.
