MRS creates inter-state freight train route between Rio and São Paulo

MRS recently issued a note to announce that the new route for cargo transport between the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Santos is operational.
According to the operator, the tracks cater – for example – to cases in which cargo cannot be loaded onto ships in the ports of Rio de Janeiro or Santos. Products do not need to be kept in a warehouse while waiting for a ship to arrive. Instead, they can be directed to the Port of Santos or in the reverse flow, where they are allocated in sealed and cleared containers that are ready to be shipped.
“Connecting the ports of the state of Rio de Janeiro and the Port of Santos had not been done before. We started this project in the first half of May. Our plan is to keep it because it is yet another example of the logistical solutions that the railroad allows to emerge, resulting in increased economy and sustainability. Multimodal logistics with the participation of the railroad is complete and can serve customers of different profiles,” says Luís Resano, a MRS specialist.
