Itajaí Port Complex records 1.3 million tonnes in September

In September, the Port Complex of the Itajaí-Açu River recorded a total cargo throughput of 1,387,387 tonnes, with 713,661 tonnes earmarked for exports and 673,727 tonnes for imports. Year-to-date, from January through August, the port complex handled a total of 12,057,354 tonnes.

In terms of container operations, measured in TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), the complex handled 118,022 TEUs in September, accumulating a total of 1,043,050 TEUs since the start of 2023.

As for ship operations, 70 vessels made calls to the complex’s ports in September, distributed as follows: 53 at the Private Use Terminal (TUP) Portonave, 05 at the Public Pier, 02 at TUP Teporti, 06 at TUP Barra do Rio, 01 at TUP Braskarne, and 03 dockings at the headquarters of the Port Captaincy of Itajaí (DeItajaí).

At the Port of Itajaí (Public Pier/berths 03 and 04), the total cargo throughput reached 51,325 tonnes in September, with a year-to-date total of 117,256 tons.

At the Portonave Terminal (Navegantes Port), the cargo throughput in September amounted to 1,320,230 tonnes and 118,009 TEUs. Year-to-date, the complex handled 11,590,910 tonnes and 1,042,661 TEUs from January through August.

During September, a total of 70 maneuvers took place in the Turning Basins 01 and 02. Of these maneuvers, 38 occurred in Turning Basin 01, located in front of berths 01 and 02 of the Port of Itajaí and Portonave. At the same time, 23 took place in Basin 02, situated in Baia Afonso Wippel.

Additionally, 09 more maneuvers were conducted at the terminals upstream of the Port Captaincy. Year-to-date, from January to August, a total of 684 turns were performed in the basin areas, with 256 turns in the Evolution Basin 02 area (in front of Baia Afonso Vippel), 359 in Basin 01 (in front of the Port of Itajaí and Navegantes Port). A further 69 maneuvers (turns) were related to dockings at the headquarters of the Port Captaincy of Itajaí (Deltajaí) and other Private Use Terminals (TUPs) upstream.

Regarding other Private Use Terminals (TUPs), Braskarne handled a total throughput of 3,971 tonnes in September, while the Teporti terminal achieved a throughput of 10,946 tonnes in the same month.

In September, the Port of Itajaí also welcomed four ships, all of which docked in the public area. This included a vessel carrying pulp (Inventana), a Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) ship (Eurasian Highway), and two ships together carrying 42,500 tonnes of sugar (Lady Zandavi and Akson Sandra).
