The ports of Itajaí and Navegantes have grown 22% in tons handled from January to November 2021.

In October alone, the port complex hit the milestone of 124,705 TEU and 1,485,005 tons.

According to the Superintendence’s statistics report, this feat led to a year to date of 1,499,076 TEUs and 16,171,049 tons, a better result than the one obtained from January to November 2020, whose numbers were 1,280,021  TEUs and 13,283 .809 tons.

As for vessel berthings, there was a 1% increase in the total number of calls at the complex: 75 berthings were registered, 22 of those in the leased area of the port of Itajaí (APM Terminals) and in the public wharf.

Total sum of imports and export at the port complex:

Considering only the full containers handled at the complex in November, 102,708 TEUs were handled, raising the accumulated handling for the year to 1,158,611 TEUs, a 25% growth compared to the same period last year when total handling corresponded to 926,703 TEUs.

Specifically in the import containers segment, handling of 48,509 TEUs was verified, raising the YTD to 537,150 TEUs. In other words, there was a growth of 39% in relation to the previous year, when only 385,399 TEUs were recorded.

Public Wharf and APM Terminals (Right bank – total sum of imports and exports)

As for the handling of fully-loaded export and import containers, there was a 1% growth compared to the same period in 2020. During the month of November (2021), 28,400 TEUs were handled, raising the YTD to 367,966 TEUs. In comparison to the same period last year, fewer fully-loaded containers carrying import cargo were registered; that is, only 363,932 TEUs.

The growth of 16% in the number of fully-loaded import containers is noteworthy. It is known that 14,834 TEUs were handled in total, increasing the YTD to 179,625 TEUs. This result points to an increase in total cargo handling at the  APM and public wharf terminals as only 154,700 TEUs had been handled in the same period last year.

In November alone, 37,048 container TEUs and 426,193 tons were handled, and 22 vessels berthed on the right bank, raising the YTD to 335 scales.

Recently, maneuvers in the area of the new maneuvering basin of the Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex (called basin 02), landed the milestone of 700 turns. The figures registered at the complex have a direct correlation to the investments made in the waterway access canal. Changes in infrastructure, access to the canal, dredging, and the construction of the maneuvering basin were paramount to the success of its operations. The complex’s first maneuver took place on January 16, and on June 1, 2020, it received its first vessel above 300 meters.
