The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced three new additions to the port areas up for auction this year. The areas include STS20 and STS13A in the Port of Santos, specialized in liquid bulk, and pulp terminal PAR01, in the Port of Paranaguá. The government expects total investments to reach R$400m in these areas.

On March 13, a feasibility study of STS13A was approved by the Court of Auditors (TCU). The tenure of the concession is for 25-year with investments estimated at R$110m. However, Antaq has recommended expansion of docking areas to reduce vessel waiting time around the Ilha de Barnabé is included in the licitation.

Last year, the government canceled auctions for the other areas discussed above, STS20 and PAR01, due to lack of interest. However, changes have been made to the licitation documentation, such as an adjustment to WACC values, to attract more interested parties.
