An addendum to law was published on Thursday which extends for up to 15 years, incentives and tax or financial-fiscal benefits linked to ICMS for the maintenance or encouragement of commercial activities, interstate services related to agricultural products and mining, as well as to maintain or increase port and airport activities linked to international trade, including the next step after the subsequent import, carried out by the importing taxpayer.
This extension of benefits was something that was long awaited in the business and legal world. “This change brings relief to Brazilian importers and distributors who were counting down the days to the end of these tax benefits”, quotes Marcos Rossi, a lawyer specializing in the area.
