Fertilizer deliveries grew 21.9% in May

The National Association for the Diffusion of Fertilizers (ANDA) informs that deliveries of fertilizers to the Brazilian market, in May 2023, were 3.96 million tons, meaning an increase of 21.9% in relation to the same month of 2022, when the volume reached 3.25 million tons. In the accumulated from January to May, 14.84 million tons were registered, with a growth of 1.5% compared to the 14.62 million tons of the same period of 2022.

The State of Mato Grosso, leader in deliveries to the market, concentrates the highest volume in the analyzed period (25.6%), reaching 3.80 million tons. They are followed by: Paraná (1.83 million), Goiás (1.72 million), São Paulo (1.37 million), Minas Gerais (1.24 million) and Rio Grande do Sul (1.13 million).

National Production
According to Anda, the national production of intermediate fertilizers ended May 2023 with 465 thousand tons, representing a decrease of 32.5%. In the accumulated from January to May, there were 2.71 million tons, with a reduction of 16.8% compared to the same period of 2022, when 3.25 million tons were produced.

Import
Imports of intermediate fertilizers ended May 2023 at 3.20 million tons, representing growth of 2.7%. From January to May, the total was 14.09 million tons, indicating a reduction of 2.3% compared to the same period in 2022, when 14.42 million tons were imported.

At the port of Paranaguá, the main gateway for fertilizers, 3.66 million tons entered, with a reduction of 19.5% compared to 2022, when 4.55 million tons landed. The terminal represented 26% of the total imported (source: Siacesp/MDIC).
