Argentine farmers have sold 36.3 million tons of soybeans in the 2020/21 season so far, according to the data released by Argentina’s Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday, December 22nd, in a report that includes data all the way through December 15.

The pace of sales fell short compared to the previous season. At that time, the selling of 37 million tonnes of the oilseed was registered as indicated by the official data.

The 2020/21 soybean harvest in Argentina ended in June at 43.1 million tons, according to the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange, which makes an estimate of 49 million tons having been harvested in the 2019/20 season.

The exchange rate for agricultural exports is essential for Argentina’s ailing economy, which is only now starting to grow after more than two years of stagflation exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Argentine farmers are now growing soybeans for the 2021/22 harvest.

The Stock Exchange expects harvest to reach 44 million tons.
