Exports of footwear components grew 16% in the quarter, says Assintecal

The first quarter of 2022 ended with a 16% growth in terms of exports of footwear components. This info was released by the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) on the 18th. Shipments of chemical products for footwear leather, uppers, synthetic laminates, soles, and insoles, among other materials, generated a total of more than US$ 105.6 million.

As a result, the exported value was 31% greater than in the same period in 2020, indicating a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels. China was the primary destination for Brazilian component exports in the first quarter, with US$ 23.3 million generated, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2021. Furthermore, exports to China increased by 52% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2020.

The second in the list of most common destinations was Argentina, where Brazil exported the equivalent of US$ 22.55 million, 58% more than in the same period last year. Compared with the first quarter of 2020, the increase was 77%.

States

Accounting for almost 50% of the value generated with the exports of components in the first quarter, Rio Grande do Sul was the largest exporter in the period. In total, almost US$ 52 million left Rio Grande do Sul factories heading abroad, 5% more than in the same period in 2021. In comparison with 2020, the increase is 11%.

The second-largest exporter of components was São Paulo. Last quarter, exports from São Paulo generated US$ 15.56 million, 37% more than in the same period of 2021. In relation to the first three months of 2020, the increase was 48%.

Uppers were abundantly exported, totaling US$ 25.74 million in exports, 52% more than in the same period in 2021. Second comes chemical items for shoes (adhesives), which generated US$ 10,34 million, 43% more than in the same period last year. Third among exported products are synthetic laminates (US$ 9.35 million, an increase of 45% compared to 2021) and, fourth, soles (US$ 6 million, an increase of 171% compared to 2021).
