DP World San Antonio has hit a new landmark with the arrival of the vessel Morning Champion. The Ro-Ro ship brought to Chile Tesla-made electric vehicles, making it the first port terminal in South America to receive such shipments.

Chile had previously received some Tesla vehicles in a private operation, for the official launch of the brand in the country, which took place on January 31 of this year. The store, located in the Parque Arauco mall in Santiago, is also the first of the American company in South America.

“As a port terminal that receives over 90% of imported vehicles in Chile, it stands to reason that DP World San Antonio became the first to receive Tesla electric cars. From its stance, it continues to support the growth of the electric vehicle market in Chile,” commented the San Antonio Port concession holder.

Curtis Doiron, CEO of DP World Chile, explained, “We are pleased to add Tesla to our roster of clients. DP World’s terminal in San Antonio receives the vast majority of vehicles that arrive in the country, so this milestone reaffirms our leadership as a key player in the national logistics chain.”

Rodrigo Arévalo, BCO Commercial Manager of DP World Chile, commented, “It was only possible thanks to the diligent work of our team and the service we offer to our clients. We ensure that all vehicles arriving at our terminal can be received by our clients safely and efficiently.”

The vessel linked to Eukor unloaded Model 3 vehicles (valued at 39.9 million pesos) and Model Y vehicles (valued at 42.9 million pesos). The exact number of units off-loaded is unknown, but it goes past 40 automobiles
