The containers at the terminal “Super Terminais,” a private terminal located in the Manaus industrial hub, began to be moved by Brazil’s first 100% electric tractor terminal. The equipment incorporated into the Super Terminais fleet arrived from Germany in September to complement the port’s sustainability goals. The new terminal tractor saves 2,112 liters of diesel oil per year, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

According to Marcello Di Gregorio, director of Super Terminais, the company has been accelerating sustainable projects on multiple fronts, including energy, fossil fuel consumption, and waste treatment. “The terminal tractor moves 46 90-tonne containers per day, totaling 12,144 containers per year.” Electronics, motorcycle parts, and components are the main items we receive to supply the Manaus Free Trade Zone.” Di Gregorio describes the equipment as “highly technological, efficient, and sustainable.”

The MAFI T230e model has a 400-volt electric motor, runs at a maximum speed of 40 km per hour, and is equipped with lithium batteries with a capacity of 177 KWh, automatic transmission, and full LED headlights. In addition to advantages in terms of sustainability, the terminal tractor brings more comfort to the operator, with zero noise in the activity, anatomical seats, a broad view, and more precise handling with controls and a digital panel.

Largest investment in history

After celebrating 25 years of operation, Super Terminais is making the most significant investment contribution in its history, R$ 260 million. Resources are being used to expand the storage yard by 10,000 square meters and the pier by 180 meters, in addition to purchasing cranes and implementing new technological systems.
