Brazilian Furniture and Mattress Exports Rebound in September 2024

Brazilian exports of furniture and mattresses saw a notable recovery in September 2024, with a 7.9% increase compared to the previous month. Total exports for the month reached $67.7 million, pushing the year-to-date (January to September) total to over $546.6 million. This represents a 0.6% uptick compared to the same period last year, indicating stability in the sector over the past 12 months.
The data comes from the Brazilian Furniture Industry Association (Abimóvel), based on research conducted by Iemi exclusively for the Brazilian Furniture Sector Project, a partnership between Abimóvel and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Key Export Markets
The United States remains the largest importer of Brazilian furniture and mattresses, accounting for 30.3% of sector exports from January to September 2024. Other significant markets include Uruguay (10.5%), Chile (7.5%), the United Kingdom (6.4%), and Peru (4.5%).
