Brazilian egg exports (including fresh and processed products) totaled 2,148 thousand metric tons in August, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). In terms of revenue, the increase reaches 241.3%, with $5.114 million in the eighth month of 2023, compared to $1.499 million in the same period the previous year.

In the year-to-date (January to August), egg exports reached 21,119 thousand metric tons, a number 178.5% higher than the amount recorded in the first eight months of 2022, which was 7,583 thousand metric tons.

During the same period, cumulative revenue reached $52.380 million, a result 222% higher than what was recorded in the same period in 2022, with $16.270 million.

Japan, the primary destination for Brazilian egg exports, imported 9,212 thousand metric tons between January and August, 1164% higher than the volume shipped in the same period the previous year. Taiwan, with 5,387 thousand metric tons (with no comparative records in 2022), and Chile, with 1,791 thousand metric tons (+1548%), complete the list.

“Egg exports have been generating significant revenue for egg sector companies, which have been investing significantly in high-value-added markets. This is the case with Japan and Taiwan, which have taken the lead among the main importers of the sector this year,” says ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
