The footwear industry in Brazil saw a collection of USD 331.9 million in exports of footwear components in the first nine months of the year, up 22% from the same period last year and 21% from 2019, the year before the pandemic. The industry association Assintecal disclosed the data, indicating that exports generated USD 40.13 million in September alone, up 36% from the same month in 2021.

Assintecal’s International Market Manager, Luiz Ribas Júnior, highlights that exports to Latin American countries have been decisive for these positive results. “Today, six of the top ten international destinations for components are from Latin America,” he says.

In his opinion, in addition to its Latin American neighbors, which have been replacing Chinese imports with Brazilian imports to avoid high freight costs, there is also an emphasis on shipments to the United States, which ranked fourth among the major international destinations. “The average growth in exports to Latin America and the United States is nearly 37%, significantly higher than the overall growth (+22%),” he says.
