Brazil exports 5 M tonnes of corn in August shipping spree

In the span of three weeks in August, Brazil registered shipments totaling 5,224,860.3 tonnes of unground corn (excluding sweet corn), as per government data. This encompasses 70.16% of the total exported in August 2022 (7,446,091.3 tonnes).

Consequently, the daily average of shipments during these initial 14 working days stood at 373,204.3 tons. This translates to a 15.3% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 323,743.1 tons in the eighth month of 2022.

Market Analyst at Grão Direto, Ruan Sene, anticipates continued progression in Brazilian corn exports, with rising shipment volumes.

“This month holds the promise of robust corn exports, possibly reaching between 7 to even 8 million tons. Expectations remain optimistic for the upcoming months as well. While some uncertainties persist, there’s a strong belief that the figures will be substantial,” Sene highlights.

In financial terms, Brazil amassed a total of US$ 1.267 billion within this period, contrasting with the US$ 2.025 billion in all of August the previous year. In terms of the daily average, the current month marks a 2.8% uptick, raking in US$ 90.560 million per working day, compared to US$ 88.080 million in the last month of August.

The price per ton secured experienced a 10.8% dip during this period, slipping from US$ 272.10 last year to US$ 242.70 this month.
