Brado introduces new Goiás-centered commercial route at Intermodal 2024

At the 28th edition of Intermodal, under the motto “Routes that Connect – now in Goiás,” Brado will introduce to the market its new commercial route, officially launched in November 2023, linking Anápolis (Goiás) to the Port of Santos via the tracks of the North-South Railway and the Malha Paulista, forming one of the country’s main rail corridors.

Brado participated in its first Intermodal in 2012, the year following the company’s inauguration, and has been present at every edition since then. Over 6,000 people have visited the company’s stands since 2015, when visitor counts began. For 2024, over 1,600 people are expected at booth D-071, the same as in previous editions.

Goiás

The new operation caters to the import and export demands of Goiás, southern Tocantins, and southern Bahia and is projected to represent 10% of Brado’s overall operations by 2024. These regions are poised to experience heightened productivity across sectors pivotal to their economies, notably agriculture and industry. Containers, unlike traditional wagons, offer a versatile solution by accommodating a wide array of cargoes, ranging from agricultural produce to industrial commodities.

Departing from the Centro-Oeste Dry Port in Anápolis, the railway will service export markets encompassing cotton, mining, steel, and food products, including sugar, soybean meal, and containerized grains, along with beef proteins via reefer container operations. Presently, these markets handle approximately 45,000 containers annually, with over 65% bound for the Port of Santos.

Along the route from Santos to Anápolis, the focus will be on accessing import markets providing essential inputs for industries and agribusiness in Goiás, alongside consumer goods distributed to the inhabitants of Goiás, the Federal District, and southern Tocantins. Imports comprise agrochemicals, machine components, equipment, and plastics, with these markets managing over 16,500 containers per year.

Mato Grosso

Presently, Brazil’s Midwest region constitutes nearly 60% of the company’s overall performance. The region’s multimodal solutions encompass the Northern corridor, linking Rondonópolis to Sumaré via rail for domestic market movements and connecting to the Port of Santos for import and export activities.

At the Rondonópolis terminal, Brado runs a cotton operation aligned with ESG trends, reducing carbon emissions through the use of gantry cranes and electric forklifts for truck unloading. The current capacity stands at approximately 30,000 containers per year or 760,000 tons of cotton lint.

Within the domestic market, which already constitutes 30% of the company’s operations, over 40 types of cargo are transported, ranging from corn, hygiene and cleaning products, to construction materials and agricultural inputs, among others. Brado’s domestic operations follow a round-trip system, ensuring that trains are always fully utilized. Since 2019, the company has been employing double-stack wagons, facilitating stacked container operations over extended distances. This mode of transportation, coupled with the utilization of 53-foot containers, signifies a significant innovation for the company, providing over a 40% increase in freight train capacity.

Additionally, Brado operates in Paraná, primarily transporting frozen proteins from Cambé and Cascavel, as well as paper and cellulose from Ortigueira, all destined for the Port of Paranaguá for export.
