Brazil: Exports of specialty coffees reach 1.01 million bags

Brazil exported 1.01 million 60-kg bags of specialty coffee in January 2025, with importers paying an average price of $388.35 per bag. These sales generated $393.0 million in export revenue, accounting for 29.9% of the country’s total coffee export earnings for the month. Specialty coffees are classified as those with superior quality or certified sustainable practices.
In total, Brazil’s coffee exports across all categories reached 3.97 million bags in January, sold at an average price of $330.88 per bag, yielding $1.31 billion in total revenue. Specialty coffee prices outperformed standard varieties, commanding a premium of 13.2% to 35.8%.
The United States was the leading importer, purchasing 206,650 bags (20.4% of total specialty coffee exports). Belgium followed with 135,210 bags (13.4%), while Germany ranked third at 134,740 bags (13.3%).
Other key buyers included Japan (67,180 bags, 6.6%), the Netherlands (57,860 bags, 5.7%), and Italy (56,120 bags, 5.5%). Remaining shipments were distributed among other importing countries, completing the total specialty coffee exports for the month.
