When analyzing the beef market worldwide, Rabobank, in a Q3 2021 report, paid special attention to Argentina, analyzing the limitations imposed by the country’s government in June in relation to volumes and types of meat that could be exported by the country.   In May, the government had suspended shipments for 30 days.

According to Rabobank Animal Protein Analyst Angus Gidley-Baird, Argentina was the world’s fifth-largest beef exporter in 2020 and the second-largest supplier to the China market. Under the new quotas, shipments from Argentina will now be limited to 50% of the average monthly volume exported by the country between July and December 2020.

Rabobank believes that this new quota system will not end in August, although it may undergo some changes that will ease the impacts of the restrictions.
