The Argentine government is actively seeking entry into the Israeli market for bone-in beef with kosher certification. The country’s National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) sent an official note to the corresponding Israeli authority to initiate the process.

This decision, prompted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Nation, comes amid significant interest from the Argentine productive sector and a high level of confidence that the country will ensure the necessary sanitary conditions for exporting bone-in beef to the State of Israel, according to the national agency.

According to Senasa’s statement, Argentina holds recognition from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) as “free of foot-and-mouth disease,” with two zones free with vaccination and three without immunization.

“This sanitary status, maintained since 2006, is endorsed annually, instilling buyer confidence. This ratification is based on the results of epidemiological surveillance, which, through the application of serological sampling and investigation of reports and suspicions, demonstrates that the disease-free status is maintained in different zones of the country,” stated the agency.

Through the note sent by Senasa, the aim is to assess the feasibility of expanding the scope of the agreed International Veterinary Certificate for the shipment of deboned meats of the same species and offals to include bone-in beef with kosher certification.

Israel ranks as the second destination for Argentine beef exports, with 33,437 tons of product weight acquired between January and November, according to the latest monthly report from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meats (Ciccra).

In this market, the average price was equivalent to $6,133 per ton, totaling revenue of $205.1 million in the first eleven months of the year.
