Bahia ports report substantial cargo throughput increase

In April 2023, the state port authority CODEBA in Bahia reported a significant increase in cargo handling, totaling 1,067,190 tonnes compared to 1,012,774 tonnes during the same period in 2022. This represents a growth of 5.37% in port activity.

One notable achievement was observed at the Port of Aratu-Candeias, which experienced a remarkable increase in cargo handling. In April 2023, the port managed to handle 644,954 tonnes, demonstrating a substantial growth of 10.3% compared to April 2022, when 581,381 tonnes were handled.

Similarly, cargo handling reached 399,650 tonnes at the Port of Salvador in April 2023, indicating a modest increase of 3.06% compared to April 2022, where the port handled 387,786 tonnes.

Although the Port of Ilhéus experienced a decline in activity during April, it has witnessed significant overall growth in 2023. The accumulated movement in cargo handling has grown by an impressive 39.96% since the beginning of the year. Up until April 2023, the port handled 142,858 tonnes, surpassing the 102,069 tonnes handled during the same period in 2022.
