Vast Infraestrutura reached a major milestone on Saturday, May 3rd, with the completion of its 1,000th oil transshipment operation at T-Oil, the company’s terminal located at the Port of Açu in northern Rio de Janeiro state. The operation marks handling one billion barrels of crude oil since the company began operations in 2016.
In 2024 alone, Vast handled about 25.2 million tons of Brazilian crude oil exports, representing approximately 40% of the country’s total exports during the same period.
“Today, Brazil exports around 1.7 million barrels of oil per day. With new exploration campaigns and increased domestic production, this figure could reach 3.5 million by the early 2030s. Vast’s terminal is the national leader in oil exports — Brazil’s top export commodity — highlighting the strategic importance of T-Oil and the Port of Açu to the national economy,” said Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Vast.
T-Oil is the only private terminal in Brazil capable of transshipping crude oil using VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers), and it is the country’s most advanced facility. Around US$500 million has already been invested in its infrastructure. The terminal is licensed to handle up to 1.2 million barrels of oil daily. Vast is exploring initiatives to expand the terminal’s capacity in light of projected export growth.
Vast currently serves 11 oil and gas operators active in Brazil: BW Energy, CNOOC, Equinor, Galp, Petrobras, PetroChina, Petronas, PRIO, Repsol, Shell, and TotalEnergies.
