Usiminas, one of the largest steel producers in the Americas, has presented plans to the mayor of Cubatão to develop a port complex in the area where the company currently operate. The plans include construction of a terminal in the Dique de Furadinho area, near the Piaçaguera Channel (see below), as well as installing a logistics and port network in Cubatão’s industrial district.

Usiminas plan to utilize all five berths at Cubatão Private Terminal (TMPC) with full operational capacity, some of which are currently idle. In July, Petrocoque and Usiminas closed a contract to ship petroleum coke from the terminal.
