At dawn on August 24th, the Port of Vitória registered its very first night maneuver for the entry of vessels over 206 meters in length. The Log-In Resiliente vessel docked at 3:45 a.m. in berth 204 to handle containers. The operation took place after night maneuvers were approved by the port authority and publication of the Regulation on Traffic and Permanence of Ships and Vessels (NORMAP 1), in June this year.

From now on, with the possibility of night maneuvers by large ships, the Port of Vitória becomes more flexible in serving its players. To ensure safety at entrances, in addition to monitoring the Vessel Traffic Information and Management System (VTMIS), in real-time, CODESA invested in improving nautical signaling, such as the repositioning of alignment lights.

The expectation at the Port of Vitória is that there will be an increase in port operations. As ships no longer have to wait for dawn to access the pier, there are gains in time and, consequently, in handling.

In addition, there is still the advantage of switching to cabotage lines. Many ships that sail along the Espírito Santo coast at night did not stop, precisely because they would have to wait until daylight to dock. Now, according to the ship’s schedule, they will be able to schedule night entry.
