Petrobras has suspended transit of its ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the major oil transportation corridor located between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, due to tension between the United States and Iran.

According to a statement issued by the company, “Petrobras routinely evaluates changes in the routes of its vessels in order to avoid navigation in areas that pose a risk to the safety of its operations. The company evaluated this scenario and, along with the Brazilian Navy, it has decided to avoid transits through the Strait of Hormuz at the moment. Such a change will not have any impact on fuel supply in Brazil. Local developments continue to be monitored and evaluated. ”
