Paraguay Begins Kosher Beef Exports to the United States
Feb, 03, 2025 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202506
Paraguayan meatpacking plants have started shipping kosher-certified beef to the U.S. market, a long-anticipated development given the added value these products command. As reported by Valor Agro, companies had been awaiting the outcome of a technical inspection before launching a specialized production line, which is negotiated at a premium price compared to traditional kosher beef exported to Israel.
An industry executive told Faxcarne that this new business opportunity is “very good news” for Paraguay’s beef sector. He also noted that out-of-quota front cuts from third countries could fetch up to USD 8,000 per tonne—approximately USD 1,500 more than a standard contract with Israel.
Strengthening Trade Relations
Last week, José Carlos Martin, president of Paraguay’s National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa), met with Israel’s ambassador to Paraguay to discuss the progress of beef exports and explore further trade opportunities between the two countries.
