Brazil secures market openings for beef, dairy products and genetic material

Brazil will export beef, dairy products, as well as avian and bovine genetic material for new countries.

According to the Department of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, eight markets for Brazilian agricultural products were opened in December.

The most recent opening occurred with the possibility of exporting bovine fibroblasts for cloning purposes from Brazil to Argentina, which was formalized on December 30, 2021, following the phytosanitary protocols of both countries.

Also at the end of the year, Cuba approved the entry of embryo and bovine semen from Brazil.

Malaysia allowed the importation of Brazilian beef and bovine giblets. As for Colombia, Brazil was granted permission to export meat and bone meal and beef tallow.

In turn, Mexico has approved the sale of Brazilian dairy products, while Uganda has approved the export of Brazilian poultry genetic material.

In 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture carried 77 market openings out, which means securing the possibility of commercializing a new product by each commercial partner.

Markets for Brazilian poultry genetic material were opened in Uganda and Jordan in November. Twelve trade opening acts were reported on October, 10 of which involved the prospect of seed export to Egypt.

In September, another eight market openings occurred for Brazilian products, including live cattle, fertile eggs, day-old chicks, poultry and cattle genetic material, animal meal, animal feed products, and ginger. In August, the openings involved fish, seeds, and genetic material.

In July, markets were opened for melon, Arabica coffee, and coconut seeds from Brazil. In June, the highlight was Yemen approving the purchase of beef and bovine genetic material. In May, permits involved apples and sesame seeds.

In April, the openings involved live cattle, fertile eggs, and coconut seedlings. In March, the country obtained permission to export fresh eggs, animal genetic material, fruits, and animal feed items to new countries.

In February, the highlight was the animal protein sector, which was granted authorization to export live cattle, bovine genetic material, and pork meat and derivatives to Cambodia.

And in January, the highlights were permission to export sheep meat and bovine giblets.
