Eurasian Union expands quota for importing meat at zero tariff

The Eurasian Economic Union (UEA), a bloc composed of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, approved the expansion of quotas for zero-tariff imports of beef and pork destined for processing. Brazil may be one of the beneficiaries of the measure.
The Russian quota for 200,000 tons of beef will be valid for the entire year of 2022. The Russian quota for 100,000 tons of pork will be valid between January 1st and June 30th of next year.

The measure that was approved this week provides for quotas totaling 38,500 tons of fresh, refrigerated, or frozen beef.
There are also quotas for frozen pork: 5,000 tons for Armenia and 7,000 for Kazakhstan. The quota of fresh, chilled, or frozen pork for Belarus is 20,000 tons.
