Jun, 09, 2025 Posted by Denise VileraWeek 202524
China’s exports rose by 4.8% in May compared to the same month last year. However, the increase was below expectations due to a nearly 10% drop in shipments to the United States, according to data released on Monday (9) by the Chinese customs authority, GACC.
Representatives from the U.S. and Chinese governments are meeting again this Monday in London to discuss a trade agreement that could bring an end to the tariff war triggered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
China exported $28.8 billion to the United States in May, while imports totaled $10.8 billion — a 7.4% decline.
Trade between the two countries lost momentum in May despite the agreement between Washington and Beijing that suspended the imposition of higher reciprocal tariffs for 90 days.
