Furniture shipment increases by 113% at Tecon Santa Clara

Wilson Sons, a leading maritime and port logistics operator in the Brazilian market, reported a remarkable 113% growth in furniture shipments in 2023 at Tecon Santa Clara, a container terminal for inland navigation in Triunfo. The terminal saw a total of 298 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), equivalent to 149 containers or 3,519 metric tonnes. In 2022, this volume stood at 145 TEUs, representing 75 containers or 1,651 tonnes.
Situated in the Petrochemical Hub of Triunfo, the terminal allows for multimodal transportation in import, export, and cabotage operations, which count with two support barges and four weekly calls to Tecon Rio Grande.
According to the Furniture Industries Association of Rio Grande do Sul (Movergs), furniture exports from Rio Grande do Sul exceeded 250 million dollars in 2023, based on Comex Stat data. Additionally, Movergs reports that the furniture sector in Rio Grande do Sul generated revenues of R$ 12 billion last year, representing a nominal increase of 4% compared to 2022.
“The port’s strategic location allows for easy distribution of goods to industries in Rio Grande do Sul. Its efficiency provides services capable of optimizing logistic costs and ensuring cargo safety,” assessed Paulo Bertinetti, the CEO of Tecon Rio Grande.
