In the Brazilian logistics landscape, cabotage emerges as a highly effective strategy for cargo transportation, proving to be the perfect solution for moving goods within the country. In the first week of January, the Port of Pecém witnessed the efficiency of this system as it welcomed the ship Golden Gran, coming from the southern part of the country, carrying approximately 18,207 tons of steel coils. Shortly thereafter, the port loaded 21,000 tons of calcined coke, a fuel derived from coal, destined for the port of Vitória in Espírito Santo.

The cabotage activity at the Port of Pecém stands out as a highlight, on par with long-haul navigation. Carlos Alberto Nunes, Commercial Manager of Tecer Terminais, highlights the consolidation of the Port of Pecém in the cabotage operation as well.

This type of movement is characterized by maritime cargo transport along the country’s coast, ferrying goods from one port to another, offering an excellent option to enhance logistics. “We are a standout across Brazil in cabotage, a strategy that optimizes not only the transportation of goods but also significantly contributes to cost reduction. Cabotage solidifies itself as a key player, connecting ports in the country, boosting trade, and contributing to the nation’s economic development,” he concludes.
