Pork exports to exceed estimates, says Brazilian industry

The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) has projected an increase in pork exports for 2024, reaching up to 1.3 million tonnes, a 6.6% rise compared to the 2023 estimates, which pointed to up to 1.22 million tonnes.

Production and Export

The entity anticipates that Brazilian pork production in 2023 will range between 5.0 million and 5.1 million tonnes, representing an increase of up to 2.3% compared to 2022. Exports may also see an upswing of up to 8.9%, reaching 1.22 million tonnes.

Per Capita Consumption

Pork consumption per capita in Brazil is expected to remain stable at 18 kg per inhabitant in 2023, compared to the figures from 2022.

Outlook for 2024

For the upcoming year, ABPA estimates pork production between 5.1 million and 5.15 million tonnes, an increase of up to 1% compared to 2023. On the other hand, domestic consumption is likely to remain unchanged, holding steady at 18 kilograms per inhabitant.
