The National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) have signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement (TCA) aimed at the development of a decarbonization project in the port sector under the H2Uppp project (International Hydrogen Ramp-Up Programme), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

The study aims to assess the readiness of the national port infrastructure to accommodate vessels powered by zero-carbon fuels for the utilization and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives (PtX) and for supplying renewable energy to docked vessels.

Another critical aspect of the project is identifying measures already being taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by Brazilian port infrastructure and their green hydrogen projects.
