The National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ) board recently approved the tariff adjustment proposal put forth by Vports, the lessee of the Ports of Vitória and Barra do Riacho in Espírito Santo. The approval came during the Ordinary Board Meeting held last week.
In her vote as the process rapporteur, director Flávia Takafashi emphasized that the concessionaire’s proposal complies with Concession Agreement No. 01/2022 requirements. Notably, the proposal made by Vports includes a significant change regarding the charging of the Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS).
VTMIS is a Vessel Traffic Management and Information system that aims to enhance the efficiency of cargo handling, resource utilization, and infrastructure at the Port of Vitória, as well as facilitate the organization of waterway traffic in the anchorage area and access channel.
Director Takafashi’s vote stated, “The Concessionaire of the Ports of Vitória and Barra do Riacho (VPorts) shall establish the average price to be charged from users for the VTMIS item in Table I, which, in the present case, amounts to R$ 12,104.29. This charging should ensure equal treatment among service users, be based on a per vessel unit, and not be tied to the size of the vessel.”
