This week, the Port of Imbituba will gain a new tugboat: the SAAM Tapajó. The vessel, which will aid in the entry and exit of ships, belongs to the company SAAM Towage, the largest operator of tugboats in America.

Built in 2008, the SAAM Tapajó includes azimuth-type propulsion (Azimuth Stern Drive – ASD), with a length of 24.4 meters and a capacity of up to 52 tons (bollard pull ahead).

Chile’s SAAM Towage is present in more than 80 ports in 13 countries and has a fleet of more than 180 tugs, most of them operating in Brazil. In addition to the SAAM Tapajó, the Port of Imbituba should soon receive another tugboat from SAAM Towage.
