On Tuesday, May 24, Antaq participated in the launch event of the newest module of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation’s AdaptaBrasil platform, which includes climate risk data for the port sector. The event was attended by the director-general of the Agency, Eduardo Nery, the deputy director, José Renato Fialho, and the secretary of Research and Scientific Training of the MCTI, Marcelo Morales.
The port sector information now available on AdaptaBrasil is the result of cooperation between several institutions and specialists and represents an offshoot of the study “Impacts and Risks of Climate Change in Brazilian Coastal Public Ports” led by ANTAQ in partnership with the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
The platform displays data from 21 Brazilian public ports as well as climate change vulnerability indicators for these facilities. The results are interactively available to the public, allowing for exploratory analyses and supporting decision-making in light of current and projected climate risks in each port.
Access the AdaptaBrasil MCTI platform here.
AdaptaBrasil MCTI
The platform developed by the Ministry is an information system on climate change risks in Brazil that supports decision-making in planning adaptation actions. Current and expected risk analyses for all 5,570 Brazilian municipalities are available for free online consultation and download, taking into account climate change scenarios. In addition, malaria, water resources, food security, and energy security information are now available.
