China has unveiled its first unmanned container carrier. The “Zhi Fei” is China’s first transport cargo ship with intelligent navigation capability. It has a capacity of 300 TEUs, a total length of 110 meters, a width of about 15 meters, a depth of 10 meters, and a design speed of 12 knots.
The vessel is equipped with three steering modes – manned, remote, and unmanned – allowing it to conduct environment recognition procedures autonomously, carry out independent route planning, avoid collisions, and be remotely controlled.
